Vast Grimm – Escaping Stasis

Hello trusty backers, 

There hasn't been as much progress this month as I would like on Escaping Stasis. Taking on a job 4 days a week has significantly reduced my output. I also had to finish writing a Vast Grimm epic adventure. If you are not familiar, this is a game run by multiple NOs (Netwürk Operators) across multiple tables. For Gen Con, there will be 4 tables playing in different parts of the same space station. At the end of their individual adventures, all Legions will come together for one epic finale! After Gen Con, as a thank you for your patience, all backers will get the rough-cut, unedited text version of what I wrote for that game.

Back to Escaping Stasis, I plan to finish Terminus S.T.A.R. this weekend. My kids will be with my ex, and I will be locking myself in most of Friday – Sunday to get that finished out. Along with that, I will continue to print the zines that are finalized. After I get through Gen Con, I will be spending as much time as I possibly can getting this project wrapped up. I am very sorry it has gone far beyond my intended delivery date. 
 

Gen Con

Over the next two weeks, I also have a lot to do for Gen Con. That is an extremely important show for me. It is hands-down the most expensive and also the most rewarding show financially for me each year. If you will be there and want to pick up part of your pledge from this project (the items that are complete and printed), you can get them from me at booth 2245. 

I'll have copies of our FREE RPG Day zine if you missed out on that as well. They will be free with purchase, but if you mention you backed this campaign, it will be yours for the taking!

We will have demos in the booth for Sqwürmish/VACP and Plunderlust. I will also be there most of the time to answer any questions you might have.

On top of all that, we still have some seats left in various Vast Grimm games and Raptor Ruckus games. 

And my cast for the Vast Grimm live play has been updated. You can still get tickets to come watch us play this infectious sci-fi horror game!

Project Update / Partial Pickup at Origins

Hello trusty backers, 

Thank you for your patience with this project. It is taking me longer than I originally anticipated due to life events, but it is still progressing forward. 

Thursday, I had pallets of boxes show up at my house with the starter set empty boxes, and they look fantastic! Check out the short video below of the box and filling it.

I still have a few zines to finish up before I can get those into production, but I have started printing:

• Crew Member Manual
• Netwürk Operator Manual;
• Threat Registry
• Killing the King's Bounty

If you are at Origins Game Fair and would like to pick those up from your pledge, I will have them available. I can not afford to do a double shipment to backers, so I can't mail them out just yet. But if you are at the show, please stop by my Creature Curation booth 2100 to pick them up. I will have a limited supply with me. 

Because I am a very small operation, and the first half of the year has really wrecked my finances, I am going to have to have a small amount of these zines available for purchase at the show as well. It is not my ideal scenario, but I need to try to make as much at this event as possible. All of the PDFs for these have gone out, so at least you can use the digital versions until I can get the physical copies in your hands.

Timing and Delivery

The items that remain to be finished are being worked on, but at a slow pace. I was recently hired by the incredible folks at Vala Marketing as a graphic designer. I'm certain you have seen their work, as they are involved with so many companies in the tabletop industry. I started working with them this past week, Monday – Thursday. They are being very awesome about my publishing and my convention schedule, so I will continue to be making all the weird things I make... my pace is just going to slow down.

I will be focusing on finishing this campaign, and then the current plan is to do smaller launches, one zine at a time, so that I can deliver easily and on time in the future. 

If you are new to backing one of my projects, this one has been an anomaly due to life circumstances that were beyond my control. 

Free RPG Day

June 27th is Free RPG Day! I will be at Level Up Games at the Mall of Georgia running the Vast Grimm scenario in Creature Curation Presents #1!!!

Check your local store to see if they are supporting the event. Each box they order will have 6 copies of the zine inside.

May Update

Hello trusty backers!

As I mentioned in the last update, things are progressing more slowly than I had hoped. Along those lines, I have had to juggle some projects. 

Making weird games is how I pay my mortgage, feed my kids, and pay all the other expenses life throws at me. I am in no way getting rich off of this, except in the rewards of the friends I make along the way. I love this carnie-like life of traveling to cons, playing games with friends, both old and new, and would not change it for the world.

That being said, my divorce derailed my project and cash pipeline far more than I expected. Because of this, I am having to insert a small zine project into the timeline that I had not planned to do. This will slow down Vast Grimm Escaping Stasis, but hopefully only by a couple of weeks. Before I mention that project, let me tell you what is happening with Escaping Stasis.

Today I am sending out PDFs of the Crew Member Manual, Netwürk Operator Manual, and Threat Registry 01 through Backerkit. Keep an eye out for that!

These are not the final PDFs, I will add bookmarks after you have all had them for a bit. These have been edited, and should be ready to go to print... but just in case you find something that we missed, I am holding off on the final, final :).

While I have been continuing on the remaining zines, I have also been working on a Pirate Borg adventure. One of my regular home games is a PB game with my kids and some friends... so naturally I wanted to turn that game into a zine. This new project will not be launched until it is completely done (minus editing). I want to be able to launch it, fulfill it rapidly, and not leave anyone hanging. I will also have some original art and sketch covers included with this campaign.

Project Update

Hello Trusty Backers!

Things are progressing with the project. It isn't quite as far along as I had hoped, but it is moving.

If you check out the infographic above, much of the heavy lifting on this project is completed. I have to finish Terminus S.T.A.R., create the adventure for Humanity's Protectorate, and then work on some final layouts. 

This weekend is my last weekend out of state until June, so I should be able to get things moving much faster after that. PDF releases of the finished items got pushed back a little bit as I finalize some business stuff.

The patches arrived yesterday and turned out great! I wish I had time to sew them onto my battle vest before heading to Austin for Staple! Expo this weekend. 

I'll have another update on all things Vast Grimm in the next few weeks. 

In Other News

My friend, Brian Shutter, has launched Neon Bastardz! This is an over-the-top love letter to cartoons, video games, and pop culture of the 80’s. Neon Bastardz is Getting Radical in the End Times! This cassette-apocalypse tabletop game will fit in right at home with Vast Grimm, fitting into the Battle Binderz format! I am also a bit biased towards this project as is being published by my company, Creature Curation!

Orders Locking in 2 Weeks and Charging Cards

Hello trusty backers!

The project is well underway and many pieces are in production. Because of this, I will be locking orders on March 15 and charging cards.

You will still be able to change your address, but this will ensure any remaining order quantities (of items I am not printing myself) are on lock.

I've printed a few of the zines already and dropped them into the new Battle Binderz to give you a taste of what's to come. Here's the link because KS doesn't seem to want me to embed it.

If you haven't filled out your pledge manager on Backerkit, now is the time!
